Father’s Day talk gets real fast when you stop asking “Who is your dad?” and start asking “Who helped raise you?” We sit around the table with Tyler, Richie, producer Zeke, and our guests Olivia and James, with the babies adding their own brand of chaos, and we dig into the people who showed up as father figures when life needed extra support.

We share stories about pastors, coaches, friends’ dads, and even close friends who became big-brother mentors, then we shift into what it’s like to step into fatherhood for the first time. Tyler opens up about how his first Father’s Day feels both real and unreal, and we talk about the everyday work that actually builds a family: diapers, bottles, learning milestones, and being present even when life is busy. We also ask the uncomfortable but necessary question: what do we need to do better as dads? The answers are simple and hard at the same time: more time, more play, more patience, and more grace with ourselves.

Then we lighten it up with a holiday ranking showdown, from New Year’s Day all the way to Christmas, plus a side quest into Christmas music, holiday movies, and favorite seasons. It’s funny, loud, and oddly revealing about what we value most: tradition, rest, and being together.

If you care about fatherhood, parenting, positive male role models, and building strong family relationships, hit play. Subscribe for more, share this with a dad or mentor who matters to you, and leave a review with your top holiday ranking.

No, like Tyler's eating a full course meal over here.

unknown

It is Followers.

SPEAKER_04

How are you gonna slowly open a wild cherry and cream Pepsi?

SPEAKER_03

That's fan I've never had it before. That's fantastic. Is it? It is okay.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, out of ten.

SPEAKER_03

Um eight and a half.

SPEAKER_04

You heard it here first.

Pepsi Taste Test And Chaos

SPEAKER_04

Pepsi.

SPEAKER_03

That's pretty good.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah? I thought I like any cream soda pretty much.

SPEAKER_05

I thought it was Dr. Pepper at first because of the colors.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, I can see that.

SPEAKER_03

Why did I choose between that and the cherry float coke? I almost put it back. Uh-oh. But I was like, uh, wild cherry and cream. Well, it's kind of mean, it's kind of the same thing. Honestly, I kind of wish I got the Coke because I do like Coke a little better, Pepsi.

SPEAKER_04

What's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, what's up, everybody. Welcome back to a brand new episode of the Almost Brothers Podcast. On today's episode, we got Ty Ty and his Pepsi. Mm-hmm. Yep, yep, yep. We got Richie Rich. Yeah. Just getting no Richard today, but we got producer Zeke.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

How you doing?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, around the table.

SPEAKER_04

Good, good. Yeah. And we have two sp well, two special guests today. They're they're beautiful, they're lovely, they're awesome. The babies are here. Wow. Oh, oh, and and y'all are here too. Ezra, you're not being a very good guest. You're not supposed to drool on the podcast. We got Olivia and James. How are y'all doing?

unknown

Doing good.

SPEAKER_02

Good.

SPEAKER_04

Good. And also Zay Be in the building. Say. Hi. Hi, baby. I love you. On today's episode, we're going to be talking about what else will be talking about on Father's Day but fathers. I shook a butt. Dads, man. Dads. And what they mean. Well, you know, y'all will talk about dads and husbands. Well, you, Zeke, you talk about, you know, what how great I am, I guess. And Tyler, your first Father's Day. You're getting all you're just growing up so fast. Don't make me call the cops.

SPEAKER_02

I'll call the cops.

SPEAKER_04

But man, just I, you know, I I I got to speak this morning on just how important men are, you know, not just dads, because there's a lot of

Father Figures Beyond Your Dad

SPEAKER_04

men that are father figures. So what who's a father figure that you had in your life that is not your dad? That just meant something to you. Could be like a like a friend, it could be another friend's dad. It could be, you know, a a leader or whatever it whatever it may be.

SPEAKER_03

Um probably my friend Andrew. Yeah. Um he's not too much older. What three or four years? Three years older than me. Yeah. Um this is the dude from college, right? Yeah. Okay. Oh, I'd say m more big brother.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Zeke, who's a other than your dad, who's a a father figure that has been important to you in your life? Um.

SPEAKER_05

What what what just happened? Okay, hey, Clayton throws. Just completely ignore him. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Ignore the top father. You come to me. Besides, okay. Tyler's one of them. Okay. Thank you. But besides Tyler, um, probably like probably like Tristan or like Easton. Yeah. Some yeah, one of them.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because you you spent a lot of time with with the youth when you were younger. Yeah. So okay. Heck yeah. All right, Liv. Sorry. There's a good father figure outside of your dad that is a um that's just weird.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's weird.

SPEAKER_00

No. Um checkmate. Probably. Um probably my uh my grandpa.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So my uh adoptive grandpa.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there you go. Oh yeah. Oh, easy there, son. Babe, who's a father figure that was in your life that was important to you.

SPEAKER_01

Um definitely my grandpa. No, not that one.

SPEAKER_04

He's trying with everybody around the table. Just uh over here.

SPEAKER_03

Trying to get as many gifts as I could.

SPEAKER_01

Um I would say growing up, we had a youth pastor, Charlie. He was a big influence on us. Yep. On me.

SPEAKER_04

Charlie Jeff Richie. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It was always youth pastors that would step in, fix his lips, say what's, you know, just be a good influence that you needed.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Oh yeah. And and mine, mine is kind of the same. It's it's pastors that have been in my life and and and friends' dads. A lot of it was friends' dads that would kind of pour into me as I hung out with with them.

SPEAKER_05

So yeah, that's I got a bunch of like friends' dads that I'd hang out with. And I got like I know like five people, right? And I met on 2K, and they live like at like so South Carolina. Yeah. But they still treat me like I'm their son. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

There you go.

SPEAKER_05

Nice.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. It it's so and it's so important to have that. And and you know, we talk all the time about the different generations from Zeke's 13, Tyler's 29, going on 13. Uh I just turned 40. Dang. Going on 40 to life. And Richard is let's see, he was born in 77. BC. In December. All that's messed up. Not BC. Thank you. Yeah, so so we we all grew up in different generations on what a dad looks like, what a dad is, and what a dad means to us. So uh, you know, those are important things. I had coaches that that helped me, especially when you know when we found out we were pregnant, I had coaches that poured into me and and supported us in those times and helped, you know, kind of raise me and and and helped me become, you know, become the man I am today. So it's their fault that I am the way I am. Yeah. You know? All right. I'll be sending some strong worded emails later. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Okay, now now Tyler, for you, uh being being your first year as a as a actual dad on Father's Day, how does it feel going into this?

SPEAKER_03

I'm going to Disneyland. Wait. You're talking us.

SPEAKER_00

You're not going alone.

SPEAKER_03

Muted. Um no, it feels good. Yeah. Um it feels um not real? Yeah. So haven't kind of sunk

Tyler’s First Father’s Day

SPEAKER_03

in yet. It's like it has, but also at the same time not. Yeah. I don't know. I'm not way to articulate how you feel there, bud. My son is breakdancing.

SPEAKER_04

What are your personality? And then well, and and talking about men that that step up that are that are part of of your life when they're not your dad. You know, you're our kid's godfather. So it it's awesome having y'all in their life and watching you interact with Zeke and support him and and and stuff like that, you know, it's it's really important and and awesome, you know, because y'all aren't too far in age from each other, but he's got a lot that he could learn from you, and you're, you know, pouring into his life. So it's just awesome. Liv, how do you feel watching your husband and his first Father's Day?

SPEAKER_00

Um it's I guess for the same for me, it's felt kind of like surreal, like it still doesn't feel real most of the time. Um, but it's it's definitely one of my favorite things is just watching him with the kids. Just like are you crying?

SPEAKER_03

Are you crying? I was burping. I was trying to say how to do it.

SPEAKER_04

No, he's sweating out of his eyes.

SPEAKER_00

Don't lie to us.

unknown

Alright.

SPEAKER_03

I'm good in some type scene.

SPEAKER_00

Um, he did he's breakdancing again. No, your daughter was eating the table. Oh. Anyway.

SPEAKER_03

It's also breakdancing.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but yeah, watching him just play and interact and talk to them and trying to teach them different things. Yeah. With learning to crawl and and now Esther thinks she's gonna just take off walking down the street.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Yeah, just skipping crawling altogether.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she just learned how to do that. So but um it's yeah, it's definitely been it's been awesome getting to watch that.

SPEAKER_04

You ever watch him do like dad stuff and then fall more in love with him just seeing them do like just like Yeah, you do muted for the rest of the episode?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you do.

SPEAKER_03

Set yourself up. That was your fault. Oh boy. My goodness gracious. You blame yourself.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that felt good. Yeah, uh huh.

SPEAKER_00

You're okay. That's what happened. He's like, what? She's he's breakdancing. He's a little bit too far forward.

SPEAKER_04

Zeke, what is what is something that you want to to take from the father figures in your life, take into when you become a father? What is something that you really want to to make sure that you work on and do when you become uh a dad that you see maybe some father figures do in your life?

SPEAKER_05

Uh protect kids. Yeah. Play with the kids.

SPEAKER_04

I swear it's like having y'all two on is like talking to a tree. It's like Tyler, what do you think? Yep. All right, Zeke, what do you got for uh talk to the kids, play with

What We Want To Do Better

SPEAKER_04

the kids? Stay at the crib. Ooh, bars. Sorry. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Muted.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm just gonna talk to y'all two, I guess. Maybe what are some things that you see maybe me do as a dad that you appreciate and some things that I could work on?

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, that's right. Dang, this is a loaded question. Well, that yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I need a lot of so first, not you don't need that long to think about it. Kinda. So first, something that you see that is that is really good and you appreciate that I do as a dad.

SPEAKER_01

Um you do a lot of activities with the kids. Like you took Zeke to and his friends to like the Memphis the game, Grizzly's game. Yeah. So you took them all. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I took Tyler too.

SPEAKER_03

I took y'all.

SPEAKER_01

And just like the little things you do with them, like um watch a movie or um go, you know, you have to go to their room now to actually get them to.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I literally went to Zeke's room and Tay's room, but she was leaving. But I went to Zeke's room today and just lay down and talked to him for a little bit.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, he laid on me.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I did. I was like, what are you doing? Uh what's something I need to work on? As a dad.

SPEAKER_01

I think you lead well too. It like you definitely take initiative as like the like the father of the house, like being head of the household. You're doing really good at that.

SPEAKER_04

Well, thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you for thank you for letting me do that. Appreciate that. Well, something I need to work on. It's up dodging the question. Um dodge around, you can dodge your question.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I don't know. Something you can work on. Probably just I say this very lightly, but I mean doing more? Because I think that's what I need to work on.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that's what I was thinking, is just spending more time with the kids. That's my big thing. Is I get so busy outside of there that I don't have the time I want to with them. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Zay is what's something that what what is something, Zeke, you're gonna have to hold the microphone for. What is something that you want to do more with me this year?

SPEAKER_05

Uh probably just like go like to the park more.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. There we go. Okay. All right, Tyler. What is something that you think you need to work on as a dad? Yeah. Oh, okay. One thing. Well the the main thing that you you want to work on as a dad. Or do better at, maybe, you know. So I feel like there's always something we can do better at.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I feel like I'm um I feel like I don't do as much as I should with with the babies. Yeah. Just busy? Just in general. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's right. Alright, gonna jump to Zeke. Zeke, what is something that you would like to see more out of me as a dad?

SPEAKER_05

Um playing 2K with me.

SPEAKER_04

It always goes back to 2K. Just always. Just okay. Uh hey, I I like it. Alright, Liv, two things. One, what is something that Tyler does great as a dad? And two, what is something he needs to work on?

SPEAKER_00

I've been trying to think of it. And I'm like, I genuinely like.

SPEAKER_03

You just remember your birthday's coming up.

SPEAKER_00

I keep, I keep. Um my gosh.

SPEAKER_03

Ezra was literally just laying like.

SPEAKER_04

I swear, you cannot podcast with you two when these kids are in the room. Like y'all will stop for two minutes

Patience And Self-Pressure As Parents

SPEAKER_04

laughing at something while we're recording.

SPEAKER_00

He's literally just laying there just. I'm over here trying to think. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh. I can't I can't help that I have funny kids. They get it from their dad. They also get that from their dad.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. I guess they get nothing from me then.

SPEAKER_03

She's got your cheeks.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Thanks. But um I really can't complain, honestly. Like when it comes to Oh, don't.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. I muted.

SPEAKER_00

So now um, I don't know. I guess when it comes to him being a dad, just being more patient with himself.

SPEAKER_04

That's see, that's good. Yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_00

More gracious and generous with himself as a dad. Yeah. Because he really does he does a really good job. Yeah. And he genuinely does. And I'm not just saying that because he's a big thing.

SPEAKER_04

Well, supposedly you're brand you're he's brand new.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I mean it's it's when I was like, you know, not everybody has a dad. Right. And like, so you're already doing the most, you know, just with that. So and that's good. He shows up all the time and helps take care of them. And I mean, he changes busts the same as I do, and does bottles the same as I do.

SPEAKER_04

Like it's, you know, there's say, look, look at that. Look at that, man. Don't do that. Don't throw up gang signs. Come on now.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, he's gangbanging.

SPEAKER_04

Hey man. That is good. That is good. So what what? How alike? So this is for y'all two, for Jamie and Liv. How alike is Tyler to your dad?

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_04

Uh-oh. What? Uh-oh. Did I get a nerve?

SPEAKER_03

The only difference is our skin color.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I I I talked about this a little bit this morning, is you tend to marry someone like your dad if you're a woman. I did not. Oh. And opposite if, you know, so muted.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But right now, it's too far from me.

SPEAKER_04

So they're they're alike, is what you're saying. Yes. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Like, so it's so funny because sometimes Tyler will say something that my dad has said before. And I'm like, that's a little weird. That makes me feel funny.

SPEAKER_04

Is she kind of like your mom?

SPEAKER_03

Uh not like distinctively. Yeah. Other than, you know, she has just very motherly qualities.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

One time because I got uh I think it was last, maybe last year, I got um some new body wash, the ir the green green bottle, Irish Spring, so it's called. Yeah. And she and I got that, and she was like, that's the body wash my dad uses for the case.

SPEAKER_00

Which the exact body is.

SPEAKER_04

Like, why do you have to use that? That is so funny. All right, James.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Same, same question for you. How much alike? And I kind of know the answer to this, but how much alike am I to your father?

SPEAKER_01

Uh zero.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's what I the exact opposite.

SPEAKER_05

I got a question. I got a question.

SPEAKER_04

Hold up. You hold on to that question. Why do you think that is?

SPEAKER_01

Um why do I think that is?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because I know what I wanted.

SPEAKER_03

Easy artsy.

SPEAKER_04

All right. All right.

SPEAKER_01

Um I know.

SPEAKER_03

Um this is no different than a sermon. This is them every Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

They have to say.

SPEAKER_03

This is them every night of Camp Allen, too.

SPEAKER_01

They're like, oh. Um, I don't know. I would just have to say you're c clearly the opposite of of him. And I thank God for that.

SPEAKER_04

Because Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of growing up, living like living around that, I just always knew that I didn't want to to live that life. So I think when I seen us growing up together and and building a life together that I knew it wouldn't it wouldn't end up like like the life I had. Yeah. If that makes sense.

SPEAKER_05

Absolutely. All right, Bob, what was your question? Does this mean I have to marry a girl with bad driving?

SPEAKER_01

Hey, hey.

SPEAKER_04

You're grounded.

SPEAKER_01

That's all I gotta say about that.

SPEAKER_04

Oh man, we just appreciate the dads out there and we love you so much. If you are a dad, and I promise you, you are a dad in someone's life. Uh-huh. Thank you so much. You're welcome. Even the ladies. Even no. Well, my dad. No, this isn't Mother's Day. I thought it was 2026. Okay, now we are we are going to a segment we've been doing for a while on ranking. So one through five. What?

SPEAKER_05

We still need the chicken nuggets.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, we're gonna do that eventually. Uh so ladies, for for for y'all, what we do is we're gonna rank one through five, five being the best, one being the worst. So you just give it your score, and the one with the most points at the end wins.

SPEAKER_03

Real quick, real quick. I watched a video on Facebook. It was the funniest thing. It was a podcast, and they're doing um uh top five goats, like just of anything. So you're thinking sports, and the

Ranking Holidays One To Five

SPEAKER_03

first guy throws out Lightning McQueen.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, when you say I am speed, I'm not gonna lie, I was thinking of actual goats. I was like number one fainting goats.

SPEAKER_04

Muted. Thank you. All right, you ready? You're we are gonna be ranking holidays.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. I know.

SPEAKER_04

Holidays. I know we're gonna go. So one through five. One through five. So one is like number like one is one is like the least score. So you want five is the highest it could get, and the one with the most points wins at the end.

SPEAKER_05

One is not the goat.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, you ready? Yeah? No, maybe? Okay, let me make sure I get my notes out. We're gonna do this. That's my fun. All right, number one, New Year's Day. New Year's Day. Yeah. New Year's. Yeah. One. One. Okay. Okay, any reasoning or just another day?

SPEAKER_03

It it really is just another day. Compared to New Year's Eve, it's just not you do resolutions?

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Alright, Zeke.

SPEAKER_05

Probably like a one or a two. I'd say one. One? Yeah. You know why? Why? Every time we have a lock-in, it confuses my brain. Don't know what day it is. Cause I like I I'd stay up until literally six in the morning. Yeah. And then when I go home, right, take a fat nap. Yep. And then I wake and I wake up. I go to mom. I'm like, mom, what's for breakfast? And she's ready for dinner. So one and one.

SPEAKER_04

Live.

SPEAKER_00

Um probably one or two. It's just it is another day. Which one? It's just another day. I'll do a one.

SPEAKER_04

One. Man, New Year's is just slacking right now. New Year's Eve is James?

SPEAKER_01

I say a two.

SPEAKER_04

A two? Just to give it something. Just to give it a little something. And I'm gonna give it a one as well. Yeah, New Year's just it just ain't it. It just ain't it. It's another day. Alright, secondly. Martin Luther King Day.

SPEAKER_05

Ooh, my ancestor.

unknown

Well.

SPEAKER_03

Um. I mean. Because I feel like there's a wrong answer. Oh, there's no wrong answer.

SPEAKER_02

You just wrong answer.

SPEAKER_03

It doesn't get a high score just because.

SPEAKER_00

He says there's no wrong answer while looking at the case.

SPEAKER_03

There's no wrong answer. I'm gonna say five.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that is cheap. Hey, you know good and well you ain't giving that a five.

SPEAKER_03

Oh gosh. Okay, see. I got a dream that I'll get out of work that day.

SPEAKER_05

I'm giving it a five. Oh my god. No, this is very reparations. I got two reasons, right? First of all, we're off of school on a Monday. See, exactly. I get to play 2K. Second one, um, if if Martin Luther didn't have that dream, me and TJ would not be friends.

SPEAKER_04

First of all, we are all now dumber for having to listen to that comment. In no way does that make any sense whatsoever. Awesome.

SPEAKER_03

That reminded me of a oh shoot, what is it? Uh Billy Madison. Yeah. And may God have mercy on your soul.

SPEAKER_04

You you you will be awarded no point. And may God have mercy on your soul. Simple no just dumb. Live.

SPEAKER_00

Um I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

I see. Y'all are so white folk.

SPEAKER_00

I mean I don't want to. I mean, it's I feel like it sounds bad if I say like one.

SPEAKER_04

There's a lose list. Go ahead. Go on. What you got?

SPEAKER_00

Can we do like the same numbers that we've or like how does that yeah, you could yeah, you do whatever, yeah. Um I'm probably gonna do a one.

SPEAKER_04

One?

SPEAKER_00

I mean Wow. Tyler, I'm gonna do it. I do not know.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, if it weren't for Martin Luther King Jr., Puckskill maybe would have made me drink out of a different water fountain, and I'm not even black.

SPEAKER_04

That's not that's nope. That's not how that goes either. All right. All right, James.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I'd say probably a two.

SPEAKER_04

Two from James, it's getting a one from me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's getting a one. It's getting a one. To me, it shouldn't be a holiday at all. Uh I just don't, I don't get it. It's great. Like, it's awesome. It's awesome. He did a lot of great things, but he also did some questionable things. So moving on. Uh we're gonna do he marched. We're gonna do Memorial Day. Oh.

SPEAKER_05

You know what I'm saying? I forgot what Memorial Day was. I forgot what it was. I get that mixed up with President's Day. Go ahead, Tyler. Let him know what Memorial Day is.

SPEAKER_03

You don't are you are you for real? You don't know.

SPEAKER_05

Memorial Day. Ain't that something about 9-11?

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_05

Lord have mercy. No. I thought a memorial was.

SPEAKER_04

This is what happens when you send your kids to public school. Somewhat in the realm, but no.

SPEAKER_05

Oh. It's honoring the people that died.

SPEAKER_04

Who? Specific people. Army people. There you go. There we go. Yeah. That's too specific.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, sorry. Military. Yeah. There you go. So you're saying screw the Marine Corps, the Cash Force, the Nate. Yeah, whatever. Alright. Tyler, go ahead. I'm gonna rate it a five.

SPEAKER_05

That's not fair. He's a Marine.

SPEAKER_04

He's rating it a five.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, Zeke. It depends if we have school off or not. If we do.

SPEAKER_04

Can we just rate the things?

SPEAKER_03

We always have something. Good lord. If he's out of school, it's a three or higher. If he's not three or lower.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, what Tyler said. I'm gonna rate it though a four. Okay. Liv.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, do you hate our fallen veterans? I'm gonna do a four or two. Four. Yeah. James. Wow. Um you hate our fallen veterans. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll go with a four.

SPEAKER_04

Four. I'm also going with a four. Four or five. I've I I only have one or two fives, so it gets a four. One more day is awesome. Awesome, but it's not a five. Wow. Yeah, sorry. Uh 4th of July. Oh. Four. Four. Okay. Okay. Starting off hot. Five. Five. Ooh. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

You know why? We get to go to the Malden House and light fireworks.

SPEAKER_04

We're not going to the Malden House, but okay. He said now it's a two. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You don't get out of school. Now it's a one.

SPEAKER_00

Um I'm going to do I'm going to do a four.

SPEAKER_04

Four? Do you do you do fireworks on Fourth of July? You like fireworks?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, we we don't do them at our house. Like, we're not gonna go buy fireworks. Yeah. Like we'll do sparklers or something. But um we'll do them sometimes at my parents' house and then at my uncle's house, he always does a big he spends like hundreds of dollars to do big things.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, does a big one. The big ones. Okay. Those are pretty fun. Yeah. Yeah. I'm enjoying the 4th of July more after we met. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um I would say the fireworks. I'd say a five. Because I like fireworks. A five. Yeah, I like the big fireworks. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

I rated it a four, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. No, you rated a five. Oh, bump it down to four. It's too late now. You're it's already in. It's already in to you. It's already in.

SPEAKER_05

Hear me out. You get so much mosquito bites.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, yes, yeah. That's true. Yep. It's hot. It's yeah. James, what'd you say? A four? Yeah. Is that right? And mine is going to be a four as well, and I even think that's a little high. Uh I I love the thought behind it. I love watching. It's a tradition. We watch Independence Day every year. Uh it's it's good, but it the heat, the bugs, the noises, people get stupid with fireworks. Kind of brings it down a little bit. A little bit. I don't understand that. So we're only gonna do a couple more, and I know we're gonna skip some, but uh we're gonna do a couple more. Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_05

Ooh. If only Richard was here.

SPEAKER_04

Five? Yeah. We know what Richard. Yeah. Zeke. Thanksgiving. Five. Oh, oh, starting off strong. Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna have to do five too. I like me some food.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh, okay. Now, do y'all did y'all ever do the black shopping? The Black Friday shopping?

SPEAKER_00

I used to do that when I was younger with my grandma. Okay. She would always take me with her, but I haven't the last few years.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I did it a couple times in college, but it gets crazy. Yeah, it gets nuts, yeah. Well, hardly it, I feel like hardly anyone does anymore because it doesn't matter. No, it's all online.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's it's it's I love the sales. I used to love going and being, you know, around people, but now it's just it's so much easier to do it online. Okay, five, five, five. Okay, James. Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_01

Is it one through ten?

SPEAKER_04

One through five.

SPEAKER_01

One through five. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Halfway through the ten.

SPEAKER_01

Ten. No, five.

SPEAKER_04

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_04

Dad, I swear. Look, y'all. Look, I told you, I've only got a couple fives. I've got to go with a four. So I got it's not fives across the board. I go with a four.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh, it's a five. Like you get to eat and then sleep.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Yeah. That's what the pilgrims fought for. Exactly. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And you get to play football and basketball.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Halloween. Oh, oh. Three.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. That is that is just diabolical. Here's my reasoning. Halloween can be fun, but we typically don't really do a whole lot.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but y'all haven't. Now you got the kids. Now it's gonna completely change. Oh, yeah, but I don't like I haven't experienced. Dude, you were trick-or-treating two years ago. Like, what are you talking about?

SPEAKER_03

You're all I know we're playing jokes, but Michael, you were trick-or-treating this year. Absolutely. Or last year. Absolutely. Zaley, did you have to hold your dad's hand while I crossed the street?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Easy. Easy.

SPEAKER_04

Zeke, Halloween. Five. Five? See. See, that is my boy right there. Instant. Just no question.

SPEAKER_05

The weather's perfect. Yep. Preach. Come on. It's pretty alright. You get free candy. You get to chill at home. And you get to spend time with your family all in one. Oh, and and you get to walk around and burn some calories while doing it. Wait, wait. See? You could get money from your grandma. What? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

SPEAKER_04

Last year's Halloween was when y'all first met the babies. What grandma, right? What grandma are you getting money from on Halloween? Sometimes what's the address again? Alright, Liv, what you got? What's the address again?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I'm probably gonna do a three, two. Just like I we used to like I used to dress up and stuff when I was younger. But it's just more of like I don't know. I don't want to have to go out and buy something for one day. Yeah, yeah, that's true. That's true. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And you don't know if it's actually gonna be like hot or cold. Yeah. Because half the time, you know, it's one or the other everyone.

SPEAKER_04

That's true too now, yeah. Yeah. That's good.

SPEAKER_00

Missouri.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. All right, James.

SPEAKER_01

I'd have to say a two.

SPEAKER_03

That's your wife.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I almost had a heart attack. Oh, I'm getting old.

SPEAKER_03

So who does the marriage counselor go for marriage counseling? Oh. It hurts.

SPEAKER_01

It's a it's a two for me.

SPEAKER_04

And your reasoning?

SPEAKER_01

Because well, one, it's a full like work day.

SPEAKER_04

Do we need to leave? Do we need to leave?

SPEAKER_01

Like, it's not a like Yeah, it's a full for full work day.

SPEAKER_04

For a witch.

SPEAKER_01

What? No.

SPEAKER_04

Jamie.

SPEAKER_03

Listen to the context. I think he just I think he's referring to you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, he's not. I'm trying not to hear him.

SPEAKER_03

Oh. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

It's a two.

SPEAKER_04

I know a dead. You know, it's your vote. Whatever. That's fine. Halloween is a five. It is an absolute five. It is no question. It is one of the top three holidays in the year. You all are crazy out of your mind. What about me? Zeke, I am so proud of you. Yeah. Also, you could be whatever you want. Hi, baby. Oh. My goodness gracious. Okay. Christmas. Five.

SPEAKER_03

It's not your turn.

SPEAKER_05

Your turn.

SPEAKER_03

Tyler, five. Five. That's what the things fought for. Five. That's what Santa Claus fought for.

SPEAKER_04

Santa Claus and the natives just fighting it out for Christmas. What? Wait a second. I think we're getting something mixed up here. Just running over a bunch of it. And then Martin Luther King shows up and hangs about. Oh God. All right, Zeke. Five.

SPEAKER_05

And I could go on a list of reasons.

SPEAKER_04

No, yeah. You don't even have to list the reasons. It just, it just, I mean, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

One of the most important is I get the new 2K. Unless I buy it.

SPEAKER_04

Lord have mercy. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Were you did you get a little more disappointed? Yes.

SPEAKER_04

It just, I was so, man, I was, and then it just live. Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

Is there a six?

SPEAKER_04

That's what I thought. I can't remember. Oh, it's popcorn. That was a six. It's a six. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's literally my favorite holiday ever.

SPEAKER_03

It's literally. Oh. I'm not gonna lie. I thought that was your phone. I freaked out.

SPEAKER_00

It was half of it.

SPEAKER_04

All right, James. Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's a five.

SPEAKER_04

Ladies and gentlemen, it's a sweep. Christmas takes it, hands down. There it like maybe murder Jesus. It is a five. There is no argument for I I don't know what is wrong with people that don't like Christmas.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I hate those people. Now TikTok. Well, okay, listen. I don't like the video. Yeah. Okay. I don't like how it's like, I'd rather have this than this, and it shows a good summer and then a bad winter. Show the bad side of summer. Right. Like it's way more decent.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Oh, just sweating. Even just walking into Walmart, you just start sweating. Mosquito bite. You just moist all day for no reason. Like the almost freaking seatbelts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Almost the only good thing about um summer is church camp and swimming.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. The steering wheels burning your fingerprints off.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. The only thing about Christmas I'm not crazy about is the Christmas music.

SPEAKER_00

And the cold.

SPEAKER_03

And the cold. I'm not a fan of the cold. It's two of my favorite parts of Christmas. So when it comes to the Christmas music. So you'd rather be hot than cold? I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to lean towards colder, but I'd really just not.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry. That's a mold face line.

SPEAKER_03

A man. She doesn't know what goes on about. She doesn't, no. Yeah. Back up off you. I'll see her tomorrow when she walks home.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

Christmas Music Movies And Seasons

SPEAKER_00

You didn't even drive here.

SPEAKER_03

I'm on I'd rather just be in the middle. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but when it comes to the music, I'm s I'm like pretty picky about the Christmas music. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

One of my favorite parts. I love Christmas music.

SPEAKER_04

So so okay, so you picky because you like the older stuff, like the you know, the classics or and that's what I was gonna ask you too. Do you like the classics? Do you like like the newer stuff?

SPEAKER_03

I didn't really like the classic. It's just like I'm not a fan of I'm not a fan of all I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey. Same, same. Cannot love mistletoe by Justin Bieber.

SPEAKER_00

I just can't stand Mariah Carey.

SPEAKER_03

What's the what's the Michael Michael Booblay sings it? I can't see his bubly. Michael Bubly.

SPEAKER_02

Oh shit.

SPEAKER_03

Uh he at Baby It's Cold Outside, he sings that with someone.

SPEAKER_00

Um everybody sings that one with somebody. Yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they sing alone. That's kind of weird. Yeah. Um but some of the class but some of the classics I like, but I don't know. I'm just picky about them. Yeah. I know one thing I like. Or um church Christmas music. Yeah, I know. Yeah, no. That is not my bag. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I know one thing y'all forgot though.

SPEAKER_03

It's not.

SPEAKER_05

And it's probably the best thing out of all of them.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Christmas movies. Okay. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

That's a whole nother cover. That's good. So if each one could have a, you know, kind of a movie, what would be the best season or the best holiday for movies?

unknown

Probably.

SPEAKER_04

Because I'm Fourth of July's got some got some good ones. Like summer movies? I feel like Halloween. Halloween's got some some good ones too, yeah. Or or summer. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because like everyone loves a good Thanksgiving movie.

SPEAKER_00

Just straight up cricket.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so out of the four seasons, favorite season? Labor Day.

SPEAKER_05

This is what the pilgrim thought for.

SPEAKER_04

My favorite season is spring. It's not all the time that I want to go and play in traffic. This is one of those things. Spring? You like spring?

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

All right.

SPEAKER_05

Zeke. Probably. I'm leaning toward fall just because the weather. Yeah. But winter right now.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was going to say probably fall. Yeah. Yeah. For me.

SPEAKER_04

James, favorite. Favorite season.

SPEAKER_01

Uh probably fall.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. I got a lot of fall. I I like the cold more than I do the fall, but I like the fall. Um weather, leaves falling, the feeling, the pumpkins. I I like that. The pumpkins. So I would say I would say fall also, but I like the cold weather more than I do cool weather. I like cold. Colder the better. I like I hate being cold. I would love. I've tried to convince Jamie. I would love to retire in like Seattle where it's just cold and rainy all the time. Alaska. That would be great. Russia. No. Oh.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that took a little jump.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I did. Alaska. He's a hop skip in the jump. Russia. No, thank you. Hop skip and a jump.

SPEAKER_05

Japan.

SPEAKER_04

No, thank you. So as we go out, what do we have to say? Come on now. Say something. Say something. You heard it here, folks.
