Quiet quitting is everywhere, and it is not just a workplace trend. We talk about what it looks like when someone is still on the job, still in the relationship, still showing up, but they have stopped giving effort and stopped telling the truth. From customer service horror stories to leadership realities, we get into the uncomfortable signs that someone is checked out and why the silent version of quitting often happens when people are scared to have the real conversation.

We also wrestle with the hard question: can you come back once you hit “I’m done”? Sometimes the answer is no, because the damage has been building for a long time. But we also share how change can happen when two people finally name what is broken, rebuild communication, and choose a different pattern. We connect that to church and ministry too, where quiet quitting often looks like disappearing without a word and leaving everyone guessing.

Then we lighten it up with a full ranking of movie theater snacks, from ice cream and chicken tenders to slushies, pretzels, hot dogs, pizza, candy, and the undefeated king: popcorn. We end with a round of deep questions that pulls everything together, focusing on fear, purpose, and the regret of wasting time. If you care about leadership, relationships, workplace burnout, and real communication, hit play, then subscribe, share the episode, and leave a review with your hottest snack ranking.

Cold Open And Introductions

SPEAKER_02

Authentically bad every time.

SPEAKER_05

Always. It wasn't as bad as the one joke.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man. I'll never get that 20 minutes back.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It was such a build-up. You know, the the listeners don't know that joke. So, real quick, this is this is bird, right? The whole episode is about.

SPEAKER_05

Not even close.

SPEAKER_02

I still love our intro music. Like I really do. Yeah. Good job, Tyler.

SPEAKER_05

Thanks. Not bad. Not bad. Yeah, I like it. What's up? What's up? What's up? What's up? What's up? What's up? What's up? What's up, everybody? Welcome back to a brand new episode of the Almost Brothers Podcast. As always, we got Richie Rich. Yes, sir. What's up? What up, what up, Ty Ty? And uh, and Zeke, producer Zeke. What's down?

SPEAKER_03

That is your son. That made me feel something weird.

SPEAKER_02

He's like the shallow end of the gene pool, isn't he? The leftovers.

SPEAKER_05

That's messed up, man. Come on. Oh, man. That is funny. On today's episode, we're going to be talking about quiet quitting.

SPEAKER_02

Amen.

SPEAKER_05

Snap. For those of y'all that may not know what quiet quitting is, it is Urban's Dictionary. It is when it could be a worker, it could be in a relationship, it could be in a marriage, it could be whatever, where you kind of give up while you're still in it. So not actually leaving, just you've given up. Like you're you're not giving it, you're not giving it anything anymore, you're not giving it your all. And I figure, I figure, I feel like this is a lot of people in a lot of different ways. Yep. Just kind of did they give up.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And you can see it too. Yeah. A

What Quiet Quitting Really Means

SPEAKER_03

lot of the times.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. It's just like, what's going on? Oh, nothing. And it it almost feels like we're scared to have the conversation of I'm just unhappy. Right. You know, so instead it's like, I'll just throw in the towel without saying I'm throwing in the towel. It's almost it's like being squared, being squared. Lord have mercy. Being scared to I hate being squared. Being squared is not fun. Okay. Triangle is so much better. Being scared to actually quit. So instead you'll just do the action of quitting without saying it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And a lot of times it's in hopes that the other person will quit for you.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. So you can have someone to blame.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah. Like, well, I was trying and they just they just didn't want to. Yeah. It's and it it you can see it when you look at customer service, you know, when you you go into a restaurant or something, you can you the waitress that you have that could give a crap if you're there or not.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I think of when I when I hear quiet quitting is in the workplace.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And almost seems like you're an inconvenience to them. Right. Like, I'm sorry I showed up to Applebee's. Yeah. Like, my bad. Can I get my wings or right? Like, goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I remember when we was in either Branson or Alabama. Uh yes, Alabama.

SPEAKER_05

Uh Wendy's. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Wendy's. That was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Tyler nearly had a crash.

SPEAKER_05

I remember you said for a long time you you had not been back to Wendy's because of that. I haven't been to Wendy's since since that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You should go to Kenneth Wendy's. It's really good.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. That sounds just as bad as Alabama Wendy's.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's it's really good. I'm serious.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, really? Oh, I thought you were being like No, no sarcasm at all.

SPEAKER_02

It's really good. It's very good food, very good service.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Just that's mine's throwing that out there.

SPEAKER_05

Just all right, cool. Not sponsored by Kenny Wendy's. But yeah, oh yeah, that lady absolutely was she was done. She was she was over it. Big care. She's carrying my food. That's why I got sick. You probably, you're probably right.

SPEAKER_03

It was so bad. It was bad. Because it was like you could you could tell, A quiet quitting. Yeah. B, just having the worst day whatsoever. Or C, that's just her, and she don't give two craps about nothing. Yeah. And it's just rude in general.

SPEAKER_05

And all three are equally bad. Like I don't know which one it is. Exactly. So what do y'all think is the how do you address somebody who's done that, you know, as as leaders? Everybody here except for Zeke, which he's 13, so is a is a leader over someone.

SPEAKER_03

Do you don't have any leadership managerial experience?

SPEAKER_01

I'm a grown up. Get to it with a mustache.

SPEAKER_05

How do y'all address that?

SPEAKER_02

Well, it depends on in what situation, you know, it it's when you're in a relationship, whether it be friendship, marriage, boyfriend, girlfriend, dating, whatever, if if you come up against that, there's almost nothing you can

Spotting It In Customer Service

SPEAKER_02

do. Yeah. It's either accept that that's the way it's going to be or end the relationship yourself. And again, whether it's a friendship or or whatever, but if there's no if there's no communication possible, you're like you could you've tried communicating, you've tried compromising. If if if you're the only one putting in any effort, you can't do it. There's nothing you can do.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And almost feel like some some

Leading People Who Checked Out

SPEAKER_05

people that are especially in the workplace, they've tried to communicate what is wrong with them, and there was no no place to even do that, and they just go, okay, cool. Well, I'm done. Yeah. You know?

SPEAKER_02

And I and I've been there, you know, it it's you you give and you give and you give at work and it's never enough, and they're constantly asking for more, and and it's just like if my best ain't good enough, I just won't give you my best. Right. I mean, it's just and it it that's when people start looking for other jobs, you know. It's yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's the truth. It's tough. Have you ever been in that have you ever felt like you were in that situation? Like, oh, I'm done. I'm just kind of going through the motions. Yeah. Me in the military. Yeah. That makes me feel safe. Well, and and and I think that's a perfect example of the no communicate, because they they're not gonna listen to what you have to say. Oh, yeah, for three years or four years they didn't listen to what I had to say.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Until I, you know, threw people under the bus and basically saying screw y'all.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. So so did um so and you were you on contract, I guess? I don't know how that worked. Okay, so you kind of had to be there anyway. Yeah, so man, I couldn't imagine having to be there.

SPEAKER_02

You go to jail if you leave before you can.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah, and you tried to have those conversations and they just don't care. No, it was it was uh more like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you just still do nothing. That was it. Yeah, yeah, totally, totally, totally, totally, yeah. We hear you. Man, and it and it sometimes addressing it makes it worse.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You know, because it's like because some people they don't want to, they don't want to say what's wrong with them. They don't want to wanna articulate, they just are done. And they can't even tell you why. It's like, well, why what's going on? Why are you done? Like, what's really happening? And they're I don't know, I'm just done. Right. Well, if you can't, if if you can't articulate to me, I can't fix it. Yeah, I can't try to figure this thing out. Same in a in a relationship like a dating or marriage, if you can't articulate it, there's no way to fix it. Yeah. You know, you gotta be able to say, hey, this is what's bothering me, this is why I've been acting this way, or kind of checked out.

SPEAKER_02

And there's there's literally no point in being in that relationship at that at that point. Yeah. Like there's why? Why are you here?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And Zeke, I know you you haven't dealt with this as like like in the same type of way we have, but I know you've had teammates that say uh, you know, you're down a certain amount of points that they just give up. Like you're still going, you're still trying, you're still, you know, but they just oh, whatever, it's it's over already.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because um, this is some ball knowledge here. Um T Mac with the 13 points, yeah, like 33 seconds. Yeah. That's what I think about. If we're like down a certain amount of points, I'm like, I could do the same thing if I work hard enough. Yeah, that's good. That's like that's just all on my mind.

SPEAKER_03

It's never over till it's over. I thought you were gonna say, just stop at I could do the same thing.

SPEAKER_04

I'm like, could you?

SPEAKER_05

Maybe one day, one day. That's good, yeah. Cause that uh

Comebacks And The Temptation To Quit

SPEAKER_05

that's exactly right. And I wonder how many of it his teammates were thinking in their head, like, oh, this is over. Because they were down, you know, 12 points with two minutes left. Yep, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And and then that's the one. Shot the first one, they're like, okay, yeah fluke, you know, made the second one. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Like, all right. Pass to him, pass to him, get him the ball. Like, let's go. Well, and and you know, same thing with the Patriots. They were down 28 to 3 against the Falcons in the Super Bowl, came back and won. Never been done before. The Red Sox were down three games to none against the Yankees and the and the um, you know, and no uh, what was it? It wasn't those uh World Series, it was the uh uh AL Championship. And came back and won. Never done Everett, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Watched watched the goat over the weekend. They didn't quit.

SPEAKER_05

What's that? Stephen Curry?

SPEAKER_02

It's the animated movie with Stephan Curry. Oh, did you watch?

SPEAKER_05

Did you watch the goat? Really? Was it good? It was actually pretty good. Yeah, that was one I wanted to watch in theaters.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, it's on Netflix.

SPEAKER_05

They didn't quit. They didn't give up, man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

All the animals were Gina Crano doing what they did. Oh, she did. Yeah, 17 seconds. Yeah, she quit pretty quick. Yeah. My thing is like Do you think it was fake? I yes. Yeah, it seems like it. And because and here's my thing. If it was, give the people their money's worth. They don't want I mean, yeah. In in one sense, yes, they want to see someone get like knocked out real quick. Yeah. But also, as the main event fight, you've been hyping it up for however long. Make it a good fight.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and that's that's MMA in a nutshell. You never know what you're gonna get. Yeah, you know, it it can be. I mean, it's happened before, it's not the first time that a fight's been finished very quickly. That that happens, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Somebody, I mean, it's been 17 years since she fought when it's not rigged. No, it happens all the time. And and my thing is it happens. I'm saying the fight was there there there was a there was an understanding.

SPEAKER_02

There was an understanding.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and and Netflix has kind of put themselves in this because every fight is questionable on there. It's like 100%.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's because that's because of their relationship with Jake Paul.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's like, mm, is this so the undercar the undercars were fantastic? Yeah. I mean, and I I only saw the highlights, I didn't see the actual It was a good fight night.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Uh have y'all, you know, back on what we were talking about. No, you're good. Um have y'all have y'all ever felt like you were in that where you're just done and then see everything completely turn around? And then now it's like, oh man, okay, I'm glad I stayed. Now everything has kind of shifted, and now I feel so much better, I'm back in. No? No. No.

SPEAKER_02

And that's and that's the thing. Once you get to that point, there's there's probably no coming back. Yeah. And and you hate to be defeatist like that, but at the same time, you if you have done everything in your power to prevent yourself from getting there, yeah, is there anything that's going to be a bit more than a bit more than a bit? Anything left for you to do?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_03

Well, for s for something like that, there's always an underlying reason. It does you don't just wake up one day and out of nowhere, whatever it is, a relationship, a job, whatever it is, that you're like, I'm done. Yeah. There's no there's no reason that someone just wakes up and like, I don't know. There's always there's always something.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I know I've seen relationships that have that have shifted and turned around when when one of them's just completely done.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And then you know, you do see things happening, you see some change happen. Because people can change if it's the right reason for the right person, you know, then then it can change. So I have seen that before, but it's just not very often.

SPEAKER_02

Me and Jennifer were completely split up. You know, we had we had separated for a couple months there, and it we did. We you know, we made changes to our relationship, to the way we communicated, the way we compromised, and and we're stronger now than we've ever been. So it it definitely can happen.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And and it's just understanding that something's got to change. Like just throwing the flag up and just of course nothing's gonna change there, but being able to say, Hey, there's something I can do, there's something else that can that can shift and change in this.

SPEAKER_02

Have you seen uh quiet quitting in ministry?

SPEAKER_05

I mean Oh uh oh yeah, 100%. Yeah, and it and it's it's something that you see, and like Tyler said earlier,

When Relationships Actually Turn Around

SPEAKER_05

it's very noticeable and you can see it, but it's it's hard for people to say what is wrong with it. Like what what's going on? Oh, nothing. Obviously that's not true. I could see that something is bothering you, you know, but it it just comes from that lack of wanting to communicate and wanting to say, This is bothering me. And sometimes it comes from a place of knowing that how you feel is actually wrong and and not wanting to communicate it because you know you're in the wrong, but you just don't like something. Don't

Quiet Quitting In Church Life

SPEAKER_05

want to accept accountability for that. But then sometimes it's just hey, what's going on with you? I don't know, just over it. Yeah, why why what do we need to do? What can we do to make it? I don't know. Well, if you don't know, then I definitely don't know.

SPEAKER_03

You know, so it's it it's a helpless feeling. Yeah, like I said, there there is always a reason that that person may not know exactly what it is, but they can they can tell you like something. Yeah, there it's something. It could be burnt out, do working too much or whatever. Feeling like they're not hurt. It's always something.

SPEAKER_05

Yep, give me something.

SPEAKER_02

Give me something to work with. And that's what it was with Jennifer is I think part of her really just didn't know there was something there was something broken inside of her that she couldn't identify at the time. And it it took a little time away for her to be able to realize the problem. So once we once we started opening those lines of communication, then it's that's when it's because it's not gonna fix itself. I mean, communication has to happen for anything to change.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Has to. I mean, that's the key the key factor is is just that being able to to say, you know what, this is what needs to change, or this is what's bothered me. Whether whether you're scared or not, at least articulate that so that either it could be fixed or you could move on and go your separate ways and be like, cool, we tried, just didn't work out. Right. Okay, awesome. But at least I I hate just ghosting, just giving up and not having a conversation and not talking about it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's that's what happens usually in church circles if somebody just stops showing up.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, just dips.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and it's just like with no communication, especially when you've poured into this person.

SPEAKER_05

It's like at least have a conversation. Lord have mercy. Let's grow up.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You know, and it's it's that's no fun. Yeah, no, let's not do that. So moving on to a segment that we've been doing, and we're gonna hot takes. No, we're not gonna do hot takes, but we're gonna we're gonna rate cakes. We're gonna rate closer. Oh, we're gonna rate some things, okay? So we are gonna be rating on a scale of one to five, five being the best, one being the least. You're gonna rate each of these. We're gonna go around in a circle. It is gonna be movie theater snacks.

SPEAKER_03

Now, is it like a like a blind, like we're getting five and we have to put them in order, or we're just going off the cuff, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yep, just going one to five rating. Yep. Okay, so we're gonna start

Ranking Movie Theater Snacks

SPEAKER_05

with we're gonna start with one that's not really a big one when it comes to like at a lot of theaters, ice cream.

SPEAKER_02

Are there theaters that serve ice cream? Yes, there are.

SPEAKER_05

So, as a theater snack, so you're in a movie, you're getting an ice cream.

SPEAKER_03

I've seen some uh selling like dipping dots. Yeah, you got dipping dots or like the the popsicle. Yeah, yeah. Um, I'm gonna give that. I'm gonna give it a three. Okay. Just because I like I love ice cream, but it's not really something I would like get when I'm going to the movies. Right, right. It's just it's kind of an odd thing. Yeah. Well, and it's most it's normally like cold in the movie theater. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That too. I hadn't thought of that. You're right. I'm gonna give it a two because number one, I didn't think about the cold thing. You know what?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, bump mine down to it, too. Logical thinking though.

SPEAKER_02

But also, I don't I don't believe I even want to eat ice cream at the movies. That's it's dark, you can't see what you're doing. What if you drop it? I mean, it's it's gone and all over you, and I guess you're sticky.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and the movie just started. I know. You've got an hour and 45 minutes just sitting there sticky.

SPEAKER_05

All right, Zeke, what you got, what you got? Um, you've heard some of the logic here.

SPEAKER_01

Probably a two.

SPEAKER_03

A two.

SPEAKER_01

But but differ dipping dots is a different story, though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, dipping dots is a little bit different. The the yeah, the risk of getting sticky is a little less.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So uh, yeah, I'm gonna have to put in two.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. And I'm gonna go because I can't disrespect ice cream like this. Okay. I look listen, listen. It's not it's not a general ice cream thing. It's ice cream as a movie theater stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Younger self is coming out.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, hey, easy. Easy.

SPEAKER_01

Dern. Dern diddy darn darn.

SPEAKER_05

Man, I am gonna go with a three.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

See, my my thing is three. No just disrespect to ice cream. It's kind of like, you know, stay in your lane a little bit, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I tell my mom that every day. Oh, okay. Jamie.

SPEAKER_03

I can't wait till she hears this one.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Open the door.

SPEAKER_05

She's right there. All right, next, chicky tenders.

SPEAKER_02

Is that also a thing? I don't go to the movies very confused.

SPEAKER_05

Chicken chicken tenders, man. This is man. And now a lot of theaters like Jonesboro, you scan, you sit in your seat and you scan the thing and order your food, they bring it to you.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, I've saw that before.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Chicky tenders.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly.

SPEAKER_03

I would go, I'll go three.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Just because uh I feel like it also depends on how good the TVs are. Or like what you have to dip it in. Yeah, that's also fair. Like, like if it's like like Walmart deli chicken strips, they're okay. They're not the best now if they're like raisin canes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That just opened up in Jones World.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it did.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I want some raisin canes. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the one.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, wow. So look. Wow.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, listen. It's for the same reason as the ice cream. You gotta dip chicken nuggets or chicken tenders. You can't see the dip. It's gonna be everywhere.

SPEAKER_05

That's I mean, yeah. It is. I mean it's not that dark in the theater, though. You can still it's my thing.

SPEAKER_03

How many like safety nets do you have to you need to dip your like you need the lights on, you gotta have your glasses on, you need the gloves. Uh, you might as well put some overalls on and some some rain boots. So now you know what dinner looks like in my house.

SPEAKER_04

I look like freaking Mario.

SPEAKER_03

You know, you know the commercials that are like, you know, selling like a household like product that like fixes something, yeah. Like a ball of popcorn, whatever. It's like, don't you just hate when Black Billy reminds me of like super clumsy. Oh don't you just hate when you're at a movie theater and you're trying to dip your tendies and you accidentally stick your hand in the entire little cup. Or you mistake your cup for your drink, and now you've got a handful of sucking. What are you gonna do?

SPEAKER_02

I eat dinner like I'm on breaking bed. I got the whole soup.

SPEAKER_05

All right, zigster.

SPEAKER_01

That was um that was a little crazy. But uh one is wild. Uh I'm gonna put in three because I love I love some chicken.

SPEAKER_02

I do too, but I just I can't get on board with this full meals that feel like sorry, think of it like this.

SPEAKER_03

When you're at home and you're watching a movie and it's dinner time, what you doing?

SPEAKER_05

Which is a little more light, but I'm gonna unzip my bio. Well, you gotta wear your stretchy pants to the movie theater now. And I'm going, I'm going with a four. Oh chicken tenders are fantastic in every occasion. Any situation, every occasion, especially now you have to have dip chicken tenders by themselves. I mean, that's that's terrible.

SPEAKER_02

Watch putting your whole hand in there.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and you know, so I'm going with a four.

SPEAKER_03

Canes is one of those you could if if you didn't have a choice for dips. Cane's chicken tenders by themselves are pretty yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The Texas toast is good too. Oh, fancy. We never did our rating chicken nugget thing. Yeah, we're gonna do that. That's uh blind, that's the where we're gonna blind frozen. That was the week I was in Dallas.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, well, I completely forgot. I'd say he texted me. He said, hey, when you're on your way, can you pick up you know the the uh the nuggets and and I'll pay you back, whatever. And I was like, I'm thinking you forgot that I'm in Dallas right now.

SPEAKER_05

He's like, Yep, I sure did. It's like I could pick them up. It may be a while before I could get in there with them, but I should I was like, yep, I did.

SPEAKER_01

I forgot. Man, speaking of um chicken tenders, every time me and dad get a haircut, we go to this one specific gas station. I know which one you're talking about. Yeah, in like Clarkton and bro, those chicken tenders.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, right by the school.

SPEAKER_05

Uh no, it's it's in Hawcom. Oh, Hawcombe. Yeah, but it's on the way back. It's uh the junction.

SPEAKER_01

Those honey biscuits, bro. Oh, man.

SPEAKER_05

What'd you get last night? You got the honey blueberry biscuit. Yeah, those are fruit. Yeah, they're chick, their chicken's amazing there.

SPEAKER_02

What's huge? It's like full chicken slush. Literally, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

All right, next thing. And it's gonna be kind of two in one sodas slash slushy.

SPEAKER_03

Five. Oh, just easy, just an easy five spot. Well, it's like if you're not getting something to eat, you're getting a drink. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And and I'm of a given I'm of the same mindset, five, just because I really I never go to a movie without a drink. I just will not do it. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, wow. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't bring my umbrella on if you spill it.

SPEAKER_01

All right, Bubba, what do you got? Five, definitely. Five. Because like you can't you can't eat something from the movies with no like bev with no drink. No biv. No bed. Like, ew, like a dry food.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Let's stay calm. You better shut your lips. Stay calm.

SPEAKER_03

You better shut your mouth. Let's you're about to say something out of pocket and I don't like it. Let's stay calm.

SPEAKER_01

He's gonna say, hear me out, we're all deaf.

SPEAKER_05

100%. I'm going with a one. What? A hundred percent.

SPEAKER_03

I a hundred percent you might be a little dumb.

SPEAKER_05

I almost never get a drink at the theater. Almost never.

SPEAKER_03

Like, yeah. Just cough hot.

SPEAKER_00

All you can hear is like the movie, and then just the person's like, is there a dog licking itself by me?

SPEAKER_05

I bet he gets a drink next time. I'm gonna move it to a two.

SPEAKER_00

Go ahead and move it to a two.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and and I don't, and and I'll I'll take like a drink or two of Jamie's, but I I I am too afraid to miss it and have to go to the bathroom. So I won't, I'll I'll I'll look because usually we'll eat beforehand.

SPEAKER_02

But I almost have that 80-year-old bladder that you can't count on.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'll never, yeah, I'll I'll almost never get that. That's fair. Now, uh on that topic, soda or slush.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, soda for me. I don't know. I'd say slush. Yeah, slushy for sure. I'm gonna slush.

SPEAKER_03

It depends on the slush. That's a good question. Yeah. Do you mix it? Sometimes if I'm if I'm you know feeling froggy. Ooh, feeling crazy. Ooh.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I ain't gonna drive, you know.

SPEAKER_03

But I'll normally go with the blue raspberry. Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think.

SPEAKER_03

Even though I love cherry.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know that I've had a like an actual slush drink as an adult. Like literally as an adult, I have a little bit. I don't want crazy. I don't want one. I don't think crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. He might spill it. Uh-huh. It might get on your shirt.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he might forget his biohazard and his umbrella.

SPEAKER_05

Everybody calm down. All right. Pretzel.

SPEAKER_03

And we're talking, we're talking the good, like the good, either pretzel by like the good ones or the big I would I would say four because when I think of snack, I think something like that. Yeah. Something like a pretzel.

SPEAKER_04

Oh gosh. My hands are. No, hear me out. My hands are gonna get sticky.

SPEAKER_03

It's too salty.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

First of all, that's true. I flicked the salt off of mine. Get that off of there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna give it a four.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, four. Even though you gotta do the cheese.

SPEAKER_04

You're making the cheese on your fingers. That's a good problem.

SPEAKER_03

I can I can see I can see Jenboy just sitting there. He just feel like it's not like wrestling. They're like, what are you doing?

SPEAKER_04

And everything just like, I don't know. It's so dark in here. I don't know what it is. Come on. He's like the peanut butter baby, but cheese. He forgot to put his tattoo. Just over in the corner, like taking his shirt off my start. What are you doing? Shirt off. He's got to put his legs and like, leave me alone, put the lights back off.

SPEAKER_05

I'm about to eat a pretzel, gotta prepare. Oh, dude. Parents grabbing the y'all try to unsee me shirtless now. Parents grabbing their kids and taking them out. Refund.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they got the employees from the theater with the flashlight, sir. Look at a pretzel Pete over here.

SPEAKER_05

Oh god. That's so funny. Oh dear Lord. Okay, Zeke, what do you got?

SPEAKER_01

Um probably four.

SPEAKER_05

Four, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I love pretzels.

SPEAKER_04

Probably a four. Yeah. I love pretzels.

SPEAKER_02

That's the only explanation that you need. That's do y'all like the other varieties of pretzels, the cinnamon and all that? Yes. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Cinnabon. Yes. I haven't tried them. Yeah, I don't know. They're really good. Yep. Yeah, those are fantastic. It's also like, you know, four. Don't mess with the original.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's high. Some stuff is good. I'll go four as well on pretzels. Pretzels are almost a perfect. I do have to get some of the salt off. Too much salt is just because he doesn't have a daggum drink. Yeah. They're really good to eat it. Because over there, just two. They're really good to eat shirtless. I think we know Richard is really good to eat shirtless. I probably know Richard's answer to this one, but hot dogs.

SPEAKER_03

Um I'm going to give it two. Oh, wow. Okay. Just because uh when I think of movies, I don't really think hot dogs. Okay. Not really a snack, though. So I give it a two. I like hot dogs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, if you think of hot dogs, you think of like baseball games, kind of. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, two.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm gonna give it a one. Just and these are take the wheel.

SPEAKER_03

No, I love a good hot dog. He's gonna have a hot take on this. Don't worry.

SPEAKER_01

He's gonna be uh covered in cake. Okay, let's calm down.

SPEAKER_02

I love a good hot dog, but these are all untradition agree that they are untraditional movie snacks, right? Some of them. So I've never had a hot dog at a movie. Ever. Okay, yeah. So I don't have anything to base the experience on.

SPEAKER_01

Uh probably two. Because in like because off rip, I don't really like hot dogs that much. But like at a movie theater, I'd rather get something else other than a hot dog.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Just prefer something other than makes sense. Five. It's it's a it's it's a five. It's a five dog. It's a five and a drink of one.

SPEAKER_05

It's a five. It's a five hot dog.

SPEAKER_02

You don't get to say nothing movie.

SPEAKER_04

Movie theater.

SPEAKER_05

Movie theater hot dogs are absolutely fantastic.

SPEAKER_02

They're not as good as gas station hot dogs.

SPEAKER_05

They're not, but but uh definitely a five, man. Hot dog with a little ketchup, little mustard. Son. You're gonna make a mess. All right. All right, next. And I guess some of these are are non-conventional. Well, they were non-conventional. Now a lot of theaters have crazy. They have a almost a restaurant attached to them. Right. Uh pizza.

SPEAKER_01

I was just thinking that.

SPEAKER_02

Three. Three. I'm gonna say five because pizza's just a phenomenal food no matter where you are.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna say covered in pepperoni sauces. Um probably four, because you know, I love pizza. Yeah. Just like I love my uh pretzels.

SPEAKER_05

I'm gonna go with five as well. Pizza's uh a perfect food. Hey man. Perfect food. Okay, now I'm gonna split this one into two. All right. Sweet candy. So your chocolates, your uh sweet and salty, you know, stuff like that. So sweet candy. Four. Four, okay.

SPEAKER_02

I will also go four because I love chocolate chocolate-covered raisins, man.

SPEAKER_05

Starting out hot, starting out hot. Ooh, yeah, those are good. What? Chocolate coverage.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_05

You like chocolate cover raids? Oh no. What? Yeah, fantastic.

SPEAKER_01

I've never tried those. Fantastic. I like raisins though.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like that's an equivalent to peppermint ice cream. I like peppermint ice cream. Whoa, wall. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hear me out. Hear me out. If I want peppermint ice cream, I will put toothpaste on my vanilla ice cream. Go ahead and see it.

SPEAKER_02

That's not the same thing.

SPEAKER_05

Weirdo. Mint chocolate chip is the best ice cream on the planet. Again, I will just put toothpaste on a Hershey's bar.

SPEAKER_01

Personally, me, cookies and cream is top.

SPEAKER_02

I was at Dairy Queen and I ordered a mint cookie dough blizzard a little while back.

SPEAKER_05

Sounds fantastic.

SPEAKER_01

Tyler's gonna be able to clean his teeth while eating his ice cream.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that sounds fantastic. Yeah tell the ladies to go get us some dairy queen. What are we doing? All right, Zake. Four. Ooh, we're gonna go. I'm gonna go three. I'm not gonna go four. Three. I like sweet candy. I like chocolate.

SPEAKER_02

I can't believe because you like are addicted to sweet tarts.

SPEAKER_05

Well, that's what that's the next one. This sweet candy. Now we're gonna go sour candy. Oh.

SPEAKER_02

So it's in a different category.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. So now we're gonna go sour candy. I'm gonna go. So you're you know, uh sweet tarts, your you know, stuff like that. Um what are the um oh gosh, the Sour Patch Kids.

SPEAKER_01

Well, oh, those are I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-oh. I'm gonna go two. Oh just now just and hear me out, just because I'm selective on the sour candies. Yeah. Like there are some there I feel like the majority of them I'm not a fan of, but like the Sour Patch Kids, the uh was it like the airhead stripes or whatever, that sour one, uh sour gummy worms. No. I I really I I like I like those. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna go one.

SPEAKER_03

Oh it's all the sour sugar all over him.

SPEAKER_05

Comes out looking like comes out looking like a vampire from Twilight, just shining.

SPEAKER_02

So of all flavors, like every flavor profile, yeah, sour is my least favorite of any flavor. I'm just not a sour guy. Except with the exception of the giant sweet darts, I love them. Yeah. But they're not super sad.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, those are like the big round ones. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Zeke, sour candy.

SPEAKER_01

Um, probably a three. But my Sour Patch Kid watermelons, those are a five. Okay. But just I don't like some, like, I don't like some sweet candy because they're like a little too sweet and they like leave you with no taste buds after. Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_02

Just rake your tongue. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and I'm going a five on that. Definitely a five on that. Yeah, that's kind of your uh that's my thing. That's my I have to have. There's two things I have to have. One of them is not a soda if I'm watching a movie, and the other one is our last one on the board. I know there's a bunch of stuff, but the last one on the board, popcorn.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Six.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, yep. Yeah, mine's a five. It's movies and popcorn. I mean, it just it just it is a movie. You can't go without Dick?

SPEAKER_01

One. No, I'm just kidding. Oh, gosh. What? Um, probably a five because that's like that's so traditional. Like you think movie theater, and then you think popcorn and everything.

SPEAKER_05

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first all fives. Yeah. Popcorn takes it away. I said six. We take away points. Like you said, Rich, popcorn and mo they go to it. It is, I I cannot go to a theater and not have some popcorn. Right. Can't. Again, it it that's like a a park and barbecue. Yes. Have to. Have to, have to, have to. It it is, and even and and now do y'all like the flavored pop like the sweet popcorn or the caramel popcorn and stuff like that?

SPEAKER_02

I do like like white cheddar popcorn, ranch. They got ranch, they you know, they got all these seasonings you can do on popcorn.

SPEAKER_01

I used to have those at grandma's house. I used to put them on. I just want my popcorn. That's all I want.

SPEAKER_05

I just want. That's how I am. Nope. Butter, popcorn. That's it. I don't even like salt on it. I like a big fan of salt.

SPEAKER_01

I like some butter on it. Like, I don't go too crazy, but like I want some butter.

SPEAKER_02

I want I want some popcorn with my butter. That's really kind of weird. Yeah, yeah. I've seen him do the you know, where you push the button and the pot is tell me when. Can we just take this nozzle off of swearing too?

SPEAKER_03

Tell me when. Two? Okay. Sir, the movie's about to start. I didn't say when. He's gonna be covered in butter. Yes. I like mostly salt and I like just enough butter to taste it. Because too much butter, it makes me feel gross. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know how to make it at home like that. You you because you melt butter, it just like shrivels up the popcorn. I don't know what kind of leprechaun magic they use at the movie theater.

SPEAKER_05

I think they'd they'd I think they do it as kernels and then it just pops into Well, I'm talking about the the pump thing, like the Oh yeah, yeah. Oh yeah, maybe. And it's not hot. I wonder how much of it is actual butter and how much of it is like butter substitution.

SPEAKER_01

I'm pretty sure they use like vegetable oil for part of it.

SPEAKER_05

Maybe. Yeah, I don't know. I have to look that up. Yeah, that's a good question. I'm gonna Google that. He's gonna Google trying to make his own butter concoction at home. So last question as we as we round this up movie at home or in the theater?

SPEAKER_03

If it's a new movie, I'd like to go to a theater. If it's one I've already seen, I'm staying home. Because I'm definitely not paying what, ten dollars a ticket or something to see a movie I've already seen.

SPEAKER_02

I w I will vote movie theater every single time as long as it's a decent seat. Because there's some theaters like you sitting ten minutes and just like I'm numb from the waist down.

Theater Versus Home Viewing

SPEAKER_02

Some seats just really suck.

SPEAKER_01

For me, it kind of depends, because like I love going to the movie theater. Right. But how at home, it's just like more comfy and like you could just dress up in some pajama pants and everything, and you could go to sleep.

SPEAKER_05

That's what he really does, is go to sleep in the middle of the movie.

SPEAKER_01

Unless unless it's part it's unless it's one of the grown-ups movies, Sandlot.

SPEAKER_05

They're making a new one. I saw that.

SPEAKER_01

The grown-ups, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I hope they don't have to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_01

They're making they're making a backrooms movie.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's it's coming out pretty soon. I got it on my list. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I saw that too. Yeah, I'm so excited to watch that.

SPEAKER_05

All right, now we're gonna move on to our last segment of the episode. Some deep, dark, not really dark, but deep questions for us to answer. Okay? All right, first question of the night. Have you ever had one of your worst fears happen?

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so. No, and I'm not going to make my worst fears public just in case somebody kidnaps me.

SPEAKER_05

Um

Deep Questions And Real Fears

SPEAKER_05

yes, I've been bit by a shark. Uh moving on, Andrew. Um what is something that you would do if you knew you would not fail?

SPEAKER_03

I would and it sounds bad.

SPEAKER_02

Go in the MBA.

SPEAKER_03

I wish it was a little bit taller.

SPEAKER_05

I wish I was smaller.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I would pack my family up, move to Nashville right now, yeah, and pursue uh music full-time. Nice, nice. Rich?

SPEAKER_02

Uh I would start a business of my own making. I would I would be an entrepreneur. Nice. Yeah. I just have no discernible talents. I just make it into the MBA.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, there you go. Very good, very good. What?

SPEAKER_02

You didn't answer.

SPEAKER_05

What? I would probably I would continue to pastor, but I would probably try to go work for like Google or NASA. Something like that. Not Apple? Yeah, I I wouldn't mind working for Apple as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, screw, but you could be an apple. You could be an Apple genius. Yeah. You could just be an apple.

SPEAKER_05

What is your happiest moment so far in your life?

SPEAKER_01

Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want to say something and get in trouble. Like, I'm going to say I give two. Number one is when me and Liv got married. Or number one, yeah, I said number one. Number one is when me and me and Liv got married, and number two is when Esther and Ezra were were born. Very good.

SPEAKER_02

It's a safe answer.

SPEAKER_03

Very good. Thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Um happiest. Well, I'm quite a bit older than Tyler, so I know, it's crazy. Uh I'm gonna go with the day me and Jennifer renewed our vows. Because it was it was it took me a long time to convince her to do so. She's like, I said yes once. I don't want to do it.

SPEAKER_05

I don't need to do it again. Made that mistake one time.

SPEAKER_02

But that was that was a that was a pretty good day. That's good.

SPEAKER_05

Zig, happiest moment so far.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

All right, good talk. All right, love it. Every day just sucks. Just trying to get by. Tell me about a tough time in your life. Oh, it all started when I was born.

SPEAKER_05

The day I accepted Jesus.

SPEAKER_02

That's a cheat. I was just about to say, who's someone who won't be like Jesus? Teacher's pit.

SPEAKER_01

Who split the ocean in half?

SPEAKER_02

I almost said when I got ordained. That was that was a really good day, too.

SPEAKER_01

But what does ordain mean? Become a pastor.

SPEAKER_05

All right, last one. What scares you the most?

SPEAKER_02

I just said I wasn't gonna Um in case someone out there is trying to get me.

SPEAKER_03

Uh lots of money. I hate it. I'm afraid of lots of money. Don't you dare. Um What scares me the most Oh gosh. I'll say anything how to put it. Um probably answering this question. I know. Answering this question, it's a number two. Um by number two, I mean it makes me want to crack my pants. Um probably what scares me the most is is Live in the babies being in some kind of life-threatening situation. Yeah. That's good. Not good, but you know. That's I guess. I think.

SPEAKER_02

Dipping pretzels in a movie theater.

SPEAKER_03

It's just they're just he's got the pretzel, he's shaking, and you just see sweat.

SPEAKER_02

It's uh failing as a husband, a father, and a Christian. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh, ooh, actually, come back to me. Come back to me. I've got I've got a better one.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, just go okay, okay.

SPEAKER_01

After uh probably, probably um when I like when I see Jesus and he says, depart from me, for I never knew you. That's good. That's good.

SPEAKER_05

Was that yours? Yes. Oh, that's a good one, take. That's good. That is good. Never mind. Don't come back to me. Uh for mine is to look back on my family, my wife, my kids, and realize that I didn't do everything I could while I could.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

To look back and regret and not be able to spend more time, to tell them I love them, to, to do those things. That that is terrifying to me that I waste my time. No regurts. No regurts.

SPEAKER_02

Not even one let's single letter.

SPEAKER_05

No, no regurts, except for the dipping sauce that comes with chicken tins.
