Phones are gone at school, but the debate is louder than ever. We sit down with special guests William Banning and Ledger and get straight to the question students keep asking: does a phone ban actually help, or does it just remove tools we use to learn? We break down how phones can be used for school work, from calculators and quick Google searches to AI in education and ChatGPT, plus what really happens when a teacher spots a screen.

From there, the conversation turns into pure end-of-year reality: background music, empty stomachs, school cookout hype, and graduation on the calendar. We trade stories about teachers, laugh about the weird moments that only make sense in a hallway, and relive field day with team rivalries, tug of war, and the kind of chaos that ends with someone diving into a shoe pile.

Then we run our hot takes segment and it gets surprisingly thoughtful. Are vacations more stressful than relaxing? Would year-round school with breaks spread across the year reduce burnout? We also talk about the work nobody sees, the extra reps in the gym, the long hours behind big goals, and why consistency matters more than attention. We wrap with hobbies like 2K, VR horror games, fishing, and advice on balancing friends, family, and relationships.

Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review if you want more real student perspectives on school life, tech rules, and motivation. Where do you stand on phones in school?

SPEAKER_01

That's good, I'm doing good. Um we got Ledger. Um, what's up? Um this guy, this guy. So uh today we're gonna be talking about how how is school going right now without the phones.

SPEAKER_02

Oh I think you're saying how's school doing, but I can barely hear you because this is dang music in the background.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the music's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

This music's pretty good though. I ain't gonna be able to do it.

SPEAKER_01

It is um but yeah, personally, me, I think that we should get phones back in school so it's like we could learn better using our phones. Like I'm not trying to.

SPEAKER_03

We could use I mean you know calculators.

SPEAKER_01

We could use like Google and everything.

SPEAKER_02

You know, if you have your phone out, you know, the teachers are gonna chase you. Chat GPT.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And also I mean you can you know you can use Chat GPT on your computers, right? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, it's not blocked. Dude, it's funny.

SPEAKER_02

I made like so many pictures.

SPEAKER_01

I've the only thing I've used Chat GPT for is for a lot of use it on my math quiz.

SPEAKER_03

It was like 283 divided by like 7.5.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, I wouldn't know. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think nobody would know that. Ledger, would you know that? Huh? Would you know that?

SPEAKER_03

283 divided by 7.5. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

He's he's just thinking about food right now. He's smelling.

SPEAKER_02

I'm thinking about something. I'm thinking about going home and relaxing.

SPEAKER_01

Chicken fingers. Hey, this food smell's been hitting me like crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I need to go get like a hamburger or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I haven't ate nothing today.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, but Monday's our cookout at school though. Oh, I'm so excited for it. I forgot what we're gonna have. And then we graduate.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, burgers and hot dogs.

SPEAKER_03

And then we graduate Tuesday.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I'm ready for the graduate.

SPEAKER_03

A little bit on birthday. When I graduate, I'm gonna do like some dance or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

You got I think okay, the way we did it last year is we would like go in the high school gym and like they'd call names for like smartest math person or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

Heck, I'm not getting that crap.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I got it last year.

SPEAKER_03

You did?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Don't you have like a 98 in math?

SPEAKER_01

Something like that.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. I got like an 85, 86.

SPEAKER_02

I got an 87.

SPEAKER_03

Well, math is kind of easy. I'm not gonna even get a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, math. I don't like I don't like none of the subjects in school, but if I had to do one, I'd rather do math because I'm like better at it.

SPEAKER_03

How's Miss Laddings going?

SPEAKER_02

No, no.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, remember that one day.

SPEAKER_02

What about Miss Bryant? When a certain teacher, hold up, hold on. So hold on, I gotta tell you Miss Bh.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, anyway, so I'm falling and like Zeke tries to catch me, right? And Miss Miss Bryant's coming over here. She's like, keep your hands off of each other.

SPEAKER_01

I tell bro, I told my dad this, and he was like, man, that sounds crazy. And it was crazy. It was certified crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Sorry for stealing your seat, Richard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Richard's off the show, show for now. Sorry. He's EM.

SPEAKER_02

E up.

SPEAKER_01

But it's like Yeah. You're off the show.

SPEAKER_02

We got a new one.

SPEAKER_01

Speaking of, I saw Miss May and Mr. Nolan at uh Mr.

SPEAKER_02

Nolan. I he vanished, you know. Mr. Nolan's everywhere, bro. Yeah, he'd disappear. Like he would be like in area 51. You know, you could see him.

SPEAKER_03

You could pull up to like some store and rector, he'd be like, What's up, guys?

SPEAKER_02

He'd be there with like you go to the White House and you see him tugging Trump and you're like, What's up, gang?

SPEAKER_01

I'm actually a secret security guard.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh if anyone tries to get in, you know, I I uh I I love the Titans, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Like I can get the Titans players to tackle you, you know, like take it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the Titans are gonna cook next year.

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, Cam Ward, uh he Cam Ward, he's good, he's just he just started, he just started. Anyway, I thought we were talking about school. Oh yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Same thing.

SPEAKER_02

Miss Bryant, dude, in field day, she be looking like Dr. Dufin's.

SPEAKER_03

Gang, floor gang makes Bryant on field day, she's like, let's go, white team. Man, and I'm like, they were last, by the way. They were last, they were last. I'm like, I'm like, we're in last place right now. Oh, you were in white team?

SPEAKER_01

I was on gray team.

SPEAKER_02

No, I was in gray.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was on gray team. Gray team should have got first. We should have got first.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we got like Tug of War. You got like more.

SPEAKER_01

Especially with Ledger in that one circle at the end of um at the end of the rope thing. Yeah, oh my gosh. That was like a big thing.

SPEAKER_03

It was a dog pile, bro. I was at the bottom of it and somebody sits on my face.

SPEAKER_01

I saw, okay, so for the for the shoe pile, right?

SPEAKER_03

Oh I saw my shoe. So I dove on the top or something.

SPEAKER_01

I saw my shoe. I backed up and I just straight up dove in there, bro. Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, like, so in the in the thing, okay? Nox threw my shoe out of the pile. So I was just walking out. I was just walking around the pile.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, I was like the second or third person to like get their ledger, you're not a dog now.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So uh so I was just walking around the pile and uh I saw my shoe and I was like, okay. And then I was like, who threw my shoe out of the pile? And they said Nox did, and they picked up my shoe and threw it out, and I was like, thank you, Nox.

SPEAKER_01

The gray team should've got first.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, because I think we got we won more games than that. Anyway.

SPEAKER_01

I'm ready for it to end.

SPEAKER_03

I'm ready for Tuesday at 11 a.m.

SPEAKER_01

11 a.m.

SPEAKER_03

11 a.m.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They're gonna be calling Zeke Simmons.

SPEAKER_01

For what?

SPEAKER_03

For like just oh, the master magician and the basketball player.

SPEAKER_01

And man, I had to go to a graduation yesterday and I got home at like 11 o'clock, bro. I felt like I was in a different universe when I got home. Because I was I was listening to music.

SPEAKER_03

I stayed at the gym last night till like 10 30, bro.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like oh, I was in. I was already I already have a gym. He's seen you you've seen my shop, right? My whole time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, he does got a gym, yeah.

Hot Takes On Work And School

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what y'all think coming on here and trying to take over. Yeah. First of all. So, since you're gonna come on here, you're gonna do a segment that we do on here every week. So the segment is going to be hot takes. Oh.

SPEAKER_03

What in the world is hot takes?

SPEAKER_00

So I want to get your number one hot take. So we'll just go around the table.

SPEAKER_03

Zeke, you gonna first. Zeke, go first.

SPEAKER_00

Zeke's going first. Number one, number one hot take.

SPEAKER_03

For our purpose is a shoot.

SPEAKER_00

So y'all know what a hot take is, right? Okay, a hot take is something that you believe that not a lot of people believe.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, you gonna.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so so something that you believe or that you think about something that maybe a lot of people like or a lot of people don't think that way.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, say that again, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

So a hot take is something that you think that that is an unpopular opinion.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Hear me out, okay? I'd say vacations are more stressful than like relaxing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he said this on one of our episodes, yeah. Yeah. You're still thinking. What do you think? Go ahead. Uh-huh. Take your time.

SPEAKER_03

So like shh, so ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Is your soundboard in here? Because we need crickets right now.

SPEAKER_03

Like, people don't see like what you do on your like off time, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Like, they don't know, like, because for instance, me and Zeke, like, we stay at the gym after practice sometimes and like work out, and then we'll get back a couple days again, and then coaches are like, My gosh, they're good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And like, people don't see that.

SPEAKER_00

So Yeah. So you think so your yours would be that um that the behind the scenes is more important than it is. Yeah, I think that's a good idea.

SPEAKER_03

That like people don't see practicing and getting better. Well, even with even with movies, you know. Right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and even, you know, like a YouTuber that's got millions and millions of subscribers, somebody that's, you know, made a name for themselves, took hours and hours and hours and hours, I mean thousands and thousands of hours to get to that point, and you don't see that.

SPEAKER_03

So you only see me and Zeke were talking the other day, like, of how much we're in the gym and like how bad we want to go to the NBA and stuff, and go to Duke or Arkansas or do all that stuff and get to be at that high level.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, and all the all the work it takes to get there. Absolutely. I was taught yesterday when hot take. Are y'all ready? Are y'all ready? Are you sure? I think school should be year round. Somebody get this guy out. I think, but, okay, again, hear me out. Okay, all year round, but you have instead you still have your three months like you have in the summer, but it'll be spread out throughout the year. So you'll have so you won't just have three months of summer.

SPEAKER_02

You're so you're saying one. Yeah, not go to school next month, go to school. But you still have Christmas, like, you know, yeah, you still have your Christmas breaks and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_00

But you'll so instead of having three months in just summer weather, you'll have that spread out. So you'll have some time during the winter, some time during the fall, some time during the summer. So you'll have a lot more time off during those months as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You see, you see?

SPEAKER_03

I mean, yeah, I can, yeah. I mean, I would I would might like that.

SPEAKER_00

So say instead of the three months of summer, like say you get the whole month of January off. But then you go back to school, then you get the whole month of like October off. And then you get a month of June off.

SPEAKER_03

But then I kind of like that.

SPEAKER_00

So you're going to school, then you get that off, then you go, then you get that off. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

I imagine you say that and then you go to finishing burb, and how would they sing that? Is that how they did it? Yeah, like there's a hundred four days and so now.

SPEAKER_03

Yo, who is blowing a whistle in the back right now?

SPEAKER_00

Correct. Well, you you just graduate.

SPEAKER_03

You I'm staying at that one.

SPEAKER_00

Nobody can hear you on here. You're talking, but they can't hear your question. So the question was go ahead, what's your question?

SPEAKER_03

When would you graduate?

SPEAKER_00

So graduate, you would graduate right but you'd graduate in May, so you'd have the month of June off, and then the new school year starts. So you still have the month off. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know what? Yeah, you know what? I I would like that.

SPEAKER_00

I would like to like C C C C So now instead, you know, you get the because that three months goes by fast, and then you have to go to school, oh nine months. Then so instead you go, oh, I'm going for four months. Exactly. And then you get a are you eating my candy? I had to this just the disrespect on this. Come on, you're supposed to be the host here. You're letting this happen. Uh, yeah, Zeke.

SPEAKER_03

Anyway, so like outside of school, like, what's our favorite thing to do right now on your off time?

SPEAKER_01

Play 2K, play basketball. And he muted.

SPEAKER_02

Play uh play horror games on VR. Yeah. Play horror games on VR. Never. Or uh play kickball.

SPEAKER_00

Uh mine would be uh just spend time with the family in one way, way, shape, or form.

SPEAKER_03

Mine's spending time with the family and actually, you know what? You go fishing.

SPEAKER_00

Go fishing.

SPEAKER_02

I want to fish.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I like I like going fishing.

SPEAKER_02

I like going fishing. Like, I would like to go to this pond, but he has giant fish.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What's your like highest pound fish that you ever caught in the pond? In my life? Yeah, like well, like how what is the biggest fish you've cat caught in your pond? But like, like your whole entire family or whatever. Who's the five?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, my dad caught like a who got the biggest fish in your pond? Oh, in the pond? Yeah, in the pond. I caught like an eight and a half pounder a couple weeks ago.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, eight and a half. I mean, y'all have had that for like pond for like six years, right? Since like 2020.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, we've probably got a lot of. That's about as big as you, isn't it? Eight and a half pounds, like that's your size. Yeah, he's like that's cool. Well, what kind was it?

SPEAKER_03

Bass.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Bass.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, bass bass, of course.

SPEAKER_00

You got a girlfriend yet?

SPEAKER_03

So I'm working on it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah? Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Are you still with Aubrey?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So let me tell you about William here. The what?

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Don't be still. You can say good things about me. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He's trying to get with this girl. Yeah, Maria. Yeah, and it's he's he's doing a pretty good job, you know. He's like, he's like talking. He's not talking to her. I'm lying. Um he'd be at our lunch table, he'd just be staring into some random stuff. And but yeah, he's like trying to get with her and everything.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm trying to teach him, right, like how to get with Maria. Like, yeah. I'm trying to raise assist him. Throw that, throw, throw him the L-U.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. By the way, this is a weird question, but in the background, I just saw a kid flip a absolutely uh dinosaur like five times in a row in the background at all. And I just had to say something about in the background. Yeah, I just throw that out there.

SPEAKER_00

But the most important thing on these girlfriends, and everybody's trying to get a girlfriend now.

SPEAKER_03

Is stay like, don't get too addicted yet. Exactly. Boston. Boston. Boston's. Boston's addicted. B.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's knocks. Still be, still like still be you.

SPEAKER_02

Still like, be good friends like.

SPEAKER_00

And be good friends with your friends. Don't let your girlfriend come between your girls.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You gotta like.

SPEAKER_02

See, you gotta hang out with the girls and you gotta hang out with the good balance.

SPEAKER_03

You gotta take time, like with her and also with your family.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. And your family too, Zeke. You hear this? And your family too. I spend more time with you. I always gotta like get like pry him out of his room and off 2K to come and hang out with us. I was on like a 35-game win streak. I don't care what winning streak you're on.

SPEAKER_03

Thursday, he's like, I'm gonna go home, hop on 2K, spin the That's all he wants to do. I am me too.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I I respect it, you know.

SPEAKER_03

No, you would not.

SPEAKER_00

He I beat him. Let me the last time we played, I won. You beat me in quick play or blacktop. You beat me in quickplay. No, we just played an exhibition. Yeah, that's quick play. Yeah. Yeah. Just a normal game.

SPEAKER_02

But my YouTube, iTunes. They have four.

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_02

I subtil's channel already. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But like on my career, if y'all versed my build, y'all would not. Like, if y'all created y'all's own builds, right. We don't care.

SPEAKER_00

This isn't a 2K podcast. We don't care. Yes. We don't care, dude. There's some people that care.

SPEAKER_03

I'm already six bat. I follow and subscribe to the show.

SPEAKER_00
